For startups & SMEs

Workplace excellence, sized to where you are.

Startups and small and medium-sized organisations don't need the workplace systems of a large enterprise on day one. WWEC offers a proportionate pathway: start with a baseline, prioritise what matters most, and build towards certification as you grow.

Why smaller organisations use WWEC

Build the right foundations early.

  • Establish a workplace baseline early, before practices are set in stone.
  • Understand which policies and systems matter most at your current stage.
  • Prioritise a small number of high-impact improvements rather than a long list.
  • Build credibility with early employees, customers and investors.
  • Grow into full certification as the organisation and evidence base mature.

A proportionate pathway

From free baseline to full certification.

You don't need to be certification-ready to start. Most growing organisations begin with the Index and build from there.

  1. STEP 01

    Start with the Index

Take the free WWEC Workplace Excellence Index™ self-assessment to establish where you stand today.

  2. STEP 02

    Prioritise

Use the results to identify a small number of achievable, high-impact improvements.

  3. STEP 03

    Build evidence as you grow

Put lightweight, proportionate systems and documentation in place as headcount and structure grow.

  4. STEP 04

    Move to certification when ready

Request a certification proposal once policies, practices and evidence are in place for independent assessment.

Start where you are.

In practice

Small teams, serious systems.

Startups and SMEs can build women-centred practice early, when culture is still forming and structural fixes are cheapest to make.

Important clarification

Proportionate assessment does not mean reduced certification requirements.

Where the WWEC Women-Centred Workplace™ Certification applies, assessment scope, evidence expectations and sampling may take organisational size, structure and applicable circumstances into account in accordance with the certification scheme. Certification decisions remain subject to the applicable requirements.

Certification is awarded only through the WWEC assessment and decision process. Purchasing a package or advisory support does not guarantee certification and does not influence assessment findings, scoring or certification decisions.
