About WWEC — Our Story
Built on a simple belief: show it, don't just say it.
Womenians Workplace Excellence Council™ was created from a conviction that organisations should be able to demonstrate what their workplace feels like — not only describe what their policies say.

Where it began
Policies describe intent. Workplaces reveal reality.
As an initiative of Womenians Empowerment Foundation, WWEC extends the wider mission of women's empowerment into the workplace through structured assessment, recognition and continuous improvement. The workplace is where policy commitments, leadership behaviour, systems, culture and everyday employee experience meet — and where the gap between intention and reality becomes visible, for better or worse.
The gap we set out to close
Good intentions do not, by themselves, demonstrate what employees experience.
Many organisations can point to a policy, a statement or a values page. Far fewer can show, with evidence, whether women in their workplace feel safe, are treated fairly, have real paths to leadership, and are heard when something goes wrong. WWEC was designed to close that gap.

How the story unfolds
From a foundation's mission to a workplace-wide standard.
WWEC did not begin as a ranking exercise. It began as an extension of a broader commitment to women's empowerment, translated into a rigorous, workplace-specific system.
- 01
A foundation-level commitment to women's empowerment
Womenians Empowerment Foundation's mission extended beyond individual empowerment into the systems and institutions — starting with the workplace — where that empowerment is either enabled or constrained.
- 02
A framework built around eight dimensions
The WWEC Workplace Excellence Architecture™ was developed to examine safety, fairness, leadership, wellbeing, growth, governance, voice and progress as one connected system, not isolated initiatives.
- 03
Evidence, not assertion
The WWEC Workplace Excellence Truth Map™ was built so that what an organisation says, what employees experience and what an independent assessment finds could be compared side by side.
- 04
From measurement to recognition
The WWEC Workplace Excellence Index™ and the WWEC Women-Centred Workplace™ Certification were established to turn measurement into a credible, verifiable and renewable standard.
Mission & Vision
A credible standard for workplace excellence, built around evidence.
WWEC exists to give organisations, employees and assessors a shared, defensible way to see what a workplace actually delivers for women — and to turn that understanding into recognised, continuous improvement.
Our mission
Our vision
How the mission is put into practice
From intention to a measurable, verifiable standard.
WWEC translates its mission into a working system across four connected commitments.
- Measure — provide a structured, evidence-led way to assess workplace experience across eight dimensions of the WWEC Workplace Excellence Architecture™.
- Recognise — certify and celebrate organisations that meet defined requirements, supported by evidence and independent assessment.
- Improve — connect every assessment to a clear improvement path, not just a score or a badge.
- Sustain — require renewal and ongoing evidence so recognition reflects a current state of the workplace, not a one-time achievement.
What the vision means in practice
A benchmark organisations choose to be measured against.
Becoming a trusted global benchmark means WWEC's standard must be rigorous enough that certification is meaningful, transparent enough that its methodology can be explained, and accessible enough that organisations of different sizes and sectors can genuinely take part.

In practice
Measurement in service of better workplaces.
The purpose of the framework is not the score. It is the improvement the score makes possible.
Continuing the story
The story is still being written — inside every organisation that takes part.
Every workplace that measures itself, listens to its people and acts on what it finds becomes part of the WWEC story. Our Story continues through the Parent Foundation, the leadership guiding WWEC and the organisations earning certification today.
