About WWEC — What WWEC Is / Is Not
Clear boundaries protect what the mark means.
WWEC is a private, evidence-led workplace excellence framework and certification scheme. Being precise about what WWEC is — and is not — is what keeps certification, rankings and recognition credible.
Side by side
What WWEC is, and what it deliberately is not.
- A structured, evidence-led framework for assessing women-centred workplace excellence.
- An independent certification scheme with defined requirements, evidence, and a controlled assessment and decision process.
- A system that combines organisational evidence, employee voice and structured assessment through the WWEC Workplace Excellence Truth Map™.
- A self-assessment and diagnostic tool — the WWEC Workplace Excellence Index™ — that organisations can use before pursuing certification.
- A recognition and improvement pathway, connecting measurement to certification, renewal and continuous improvement.
- Governed by defined standards, qualified assessors and an appeals process.
- WWEC is not a government regulator.
- WWEC certification does not replace statutory compliance obligations.
- Certification does not guarantee that no workplace incident will ever occur.
- Certification does not mean every employee is satisfied.
- Certification does not automatically certify every subsidiary, location, product or service of an organisation.
- Rankings and awards are separate from certification and follow their own criteria.
Why this distinction matters
Certification is meaningful because its scope is defined.
A mark that claims to cover everything, guarantee everything or replace every legal obligation is not a credible mark. WWEC certification is valuable precisely because its scope, methodology and limits are stated plainly — for organisations, employees and the public who see the mark.
WWEC certification, the WWEC Workplace Excellence Index™ and related recognition operate alongside — not instead of — an organisation's statutory and regulatory obligations. Organisations remain responsible for compliance with all applicable employment, health and safety, and equality laws in every jurisdiction in which they operate.

Clarity of scope
A defined scope is what makes the mark meaningful.
WWEC states plainly what it assesses and what it does not, so employees, candidates and clients can read the mark accurately.
