Standards & Assessment

Sampling Methodology

Proportionate sampling to support consistent and reliable assessment. Sampling is applied where it is appropriate to review evidence, records or employee experience across an organisation without examining every instance.

How sampling is applied

Sampling supports reliability — it does not reduce rigour.

Sampling is used so assessment conclusions remain consistent, proportionate and capable of being explained.

  1. STEP 01

    Proportionate to scope

Sampling is applied proportionately to the size, structure and complexity of the organisation within the approved assessment scope.

  2. STEP 02

    Risk and materiality

Sample selection considers the materiality of each criterion and the risk that stated practice and actual practice may differ.

  3. STEP 03

    Coverage across dimensions

Samples are drawn so that every applicable dimension of the WWEC Workplace Excellence Architecture™ is represented in the assessment record.

  4. STEP 04

    Recorded and repeatable

The sampling approach applied to each assessment is documented so the basis of the assessment conclusion can be reviewed.

Sampling supports assessment. It does not replace mandatory criteria, evidence sufficiency requirements or the authorised certification decision process. Where this summary differs from the applicable controlled document, the controlled document governs.
